If you don’t know Zu, they are an Italian free-jazz trio consisting of a drummer, an electric bass player, and a (usually baritone) saxophone player.  They’ve always done a stuttering paranoid heavy-free-thing sounding like a high-energy U.S. Maple with the sound palette of Shellac if they had a saxophone player.  If you do know Zu, this album is the most rock album they’ve made and isn’t necessarily indicative of their 14 albums prior.  It is, however, the same band and this band is fucking amazing.  If their previous albums were free/metal this is metal/free and aside from a single horrible Mike-Patton-sung detour, this album is basically perfect and stands completely unique in its sound and material.  EPICALLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
